I have worked on a wide range of UI sytle. Icon, frames and other UI assets. And I be able to implant them into the unity.



MYTHIC HEROES

Style Developement

At the start of the projects. I worked closely with the art director and lead designer. I was heavily involved in developing the UI style and the narrative design.


Because this is a mid-core RPG game, the characters are anime-style. So the UI style should be clean, bright, and less intense.


Also, the UI style should reflect the world culture of our game. The game is base on ancient mythology , so I reseached and used a lot of mythology elements as UI componets.


I love the illustrations on the pottery of ancient Greece. Each one contains a mythology story. Also, I used Pergamon as backrgound texture and a lot of Viking-style patterns and decorations. However, I modified them to be more cohesive as one style.


Battle System

The battle system is the foundation of our game. It took a long time to develop.

I did many quick mockups to help the designers to present their idea. Also, I collapse with the art director to define the art style.


The challenge of the battle system is that there is a massive amount of hero status, battle information, buff, and debuff. I organized and prioritized this information. I defined how the battle information should be displayed.








Battle Mocaps

Here is some UI mockups I did earlier. They were strictly followed the design documents. However, In the first few versions, too much information is on the screen. The battle looks too overwhelming.


So, I talked to the lead designer and tried to cut out some unnecessary information on the battle screen. For example, the enemy's information is unnecessary during the battle because the player can see those information before or after the battle. And our game is primarily auto-battle.



Final Vesion

The process took long time, finaly we locked down on current version. Which has less distraction.


I even cut out most dectration on the characters’s frame. So, the player can more focus on the battle and feel more engaged.


Previous Projects

Before Mythic Heroes, I worked on many Fantasy or scifi projects. I worked on many art style including such as cartonny, high realistic and casual game.

LORDS MOBILE

Lords Mobile is a well-known SLG game developed by IGG. It is a cartoony fantasy-style game. I worked on some UI optimizations to fits the North American market. I tryed many different cartoony style, and develop one style, which is appeal to North American user and also fits the original game.

Galaxy Mobile


Galax is a realistic sci-fi strategy game. I worked on some of the UI elements. My idea is to make most of these UI looks like equipment inside the spaceship.

Iron Conquest


This is a first-person shooter game in the style of modern warfare. I designed the UI to make it feel like the inside of a tank.
